Kiwanis plays a special role in developing future generations of leaders. Key Clubs in high schools are Kiwanis organizations that teach community service and leadership skills to young people.
In 2021, during the pandemic, a new Key Club was formed at Faith Preparatory High School in New Milford. More than 400 students provide community service through these clubs. The Ridgefield and Barlow Key Clubs sponsor Safe Rides as one of their service projects. Key Clubs are the oldest Kiwanis sponsored-youth program. More than 2 million youth have enlisted in Key Club since its inception in 1925, including many who have become top government and business leaders.
The Greater Danbury Kiwanis organization proudly sponsors several area Key Clubs:
- Bethel High School
- Brookfield High School
- Danbury High School
- Faith Preparatory School
- Joel Barlow High School
- New Milford High School
- Ridgefield High School
In the New England District of Key Club there are 167 clubs with over 7,000 high school students enrolled. Over 800 of these join with our Key Club members at the annual educational convention held in Springfield, Massachusetts.
